Making the Golden Years Shine

At Finn Hill Animal Hospital, our senior pet care focuses on proactive monitoring, early intervention, and personalized treatment plans to help your aging companion stay healthy, comfortable, and engaged for as long as possible.

The Dedicated Care They’ve Earned

Most dogs are considered seniors around age seven, and cats around nine. Because pets age much faster than we do, health conditions can develop and progress quickly. That’s why we recommend bringing senior pets in for wellness exams and bloodwork twice a year. More frequent checkups help us track how your pet is aging and catch developing issues before they become serious.

Routine diagnostics are a key part of every senior visit. Bloodwork allows us to monitor kidney and liver function, thyroid levels, blood cell counts, and other indicators that often shift as pets get older. Conditions like diabetes, kidney disease, and thyroid disorders are much easier to manage when we identify them early.

We also pay close attention to behavioral changes. Signs of cognitive dysfunction — like disorientation, restlessness, changes in sleep patterns, or incontinence — are worth discussing with your vet. Our senior care approach includes pain management, mobility support, nutrition guidance, and mental enrichment recommendations.
