Dr. Raja Velu

DVM, CVA, Owner

Dr. Raja Velu founded Finn Hill Animal Hospital in 2013 to provide quality care at an affordable cost to the Kirkland pet-owning community. His approach to veterinary medicine is strongly influenced by his belief in integrating traditional and holistic medicine to better serve the patients. Dr. Velu graduated from Tamilnadu Veterinary and Animal Science University in India in 2000 and completed the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates certification program to receive his DVM in the US. He also trained in veterinary acupuncture at Colorado State University.

Dr. Velu has special interests in general practice, soft-tissue surgery, emergency care, and advanced surgery. He especially enjoys orthopedics, such as anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) repair in dogs, and is experienced with multiple techniques, including complex procedures like TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) and fracture repairs. Before relocating to the US, Dr. Velu practiced equine medicine and treated racehorses. He lives with his wife, 3 kids, and a Maltese named Bingo. He likes to travel and spend time with his family and friends in his free time.

Summer

Hi, I’m Summer! I’m from Georgia originally and recently made my way to Washington, and I’ve basically built my life around loving animals. I’m especially a cat person at heart—I’m great at winning over even the shy or spicy kitties (they’re usually my favorites). At home, I hang out with my two dogs, Poppy and Hank, and my rescue cat, Jelly Belly. When I’m not working, I’m probably being cozy on the couch with them or finding any excuse to spend time with animals.
