Specialized Care for Bones and Joints
When your pet is dealing with a bone, joint, or ligament injury, the right surgical care can make all the difference in getting them back on their feet. At Finn Hill Animal Hospital, Dr. Velu has extensive experience performing orthopedic procedures at rates that make this level of care affordable to more families.
Expert Orthopedic Care at Accessible Rates
One of the most common orthopedic injuries we see is a torn cranial cruciate ligament, or CCL (similar to an ACL tear in humans). This injury is especially common in older, larger, or overweight dogs, and it causes the knee joint to become unstable, leading to limping, pain, and loss of mobility. Without treatment, the damage typically worsens over time.
We perform several types of cruciate repair, including TPLO (tibial plateau leveling osteotomy), extracapsular repair, and rapid TTA (tibial tuberosity advancement), and will recommend the approach best suited to your pet’s size, age, and activity level. Our orthopedic services also include femoral head ostectomy (FHO) for hip conditions, luxating patella repair, and fracture stabilization.
We’re upfront about costs from the start and work with you to make sure you understand what the procedure involves and what recovery looks like at every stage. Our team will send you home with a clear post-operative plan, including activity guidelines and physical therapy exercises.
